Justin Klae Purkey arrested by Terrell Police Department

Justin Klae PurkeyJustin Klae Purkey was booked into the Kaufman County Jail on October 24, 2015, at 7:03 p.m. He was arrested by the Terrell Police Department on charges of: manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 in an amount of 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams, bond set at $200,000; unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, bond set at $100,000; and possession of marijuana under 2 ounces, bond set at $25,000. Purkey is described as a white male, date of birth December 18, 1974, with blue eyes and brown hair, standing 5’ 11” tall and weighing 235 pounds.

Purkey was arrested by Terrell PD following a drug raid at a residence on County Road 236 on Friday, October 23, 2015. During that raid, a Terrell officer shot and wounded 65-year-old Phillip Keith Purkey.

Purkey has a long list of criminal convictions in Dallas County including felony offenses of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon (2 convictions), possession of methamphetamine, burglary of a building, as well as misdemeanor convictions for theft over 500, criminal mischief over 500, and attempted burglary of a building.

In Rockwall County, Purkey was previously charged in 2005 with two felony offenses of possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 in an amount of 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams. Both of those charges were subsequently dismissed in 2006. Purkey has two misdemeanor convictions for possession of marijuana under 2 ounces and possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 3 under 28 grams.

In Kaufman County, Purkey has only been charged with minor infractions previously, most of which were dismissed.

Update: On April 21, 2016, Purkey entered a plea of guilty to the possession charge and received a sentence of 15 years in prison and a fine of $2000. The marijuana charge was never filed and the firearms charge was dismissed.

On May 26, 2016, Phillip Keith Purkey was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 in an amount of 4 grams stemming from the same incident.
