Michael Anthony Cooks arrested by Forney Police Department

Michael Anthony CooksMichael Anthony Cooks was booked into the Kaufman County Jail on January 17, 2016, at 7:44 p.m. He was arrested by the Forney Police Department on charges of: evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, bond set at $20,000; driving while intoxicated 2nd, bond set at $10,000; and possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 2 (which includes PCP) in an amount of less than 1 gram, bond set at $15,000. Cooks is described as a black male, date of birth December 17, 1984, with brown eyes and black hair, standing 5’ 9” tall and weighing 195 pounds.

Cooks was arrested by Forney PD following a report of a reckless driver on eastbound 80. He subsequently failed to yield to a traffic stop and ended up colliding with another vehicle near Las Lomas Parkway on Spur 557. Witnesses also indicated Cooks was driving with a gas nozzle and hose hanging from the gas tank of his vehicle.

Cooks is currently on bond in Kaufman County for a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 in an amount of 1 gram or more but less than 4 grams. This case stems from an arrest also by Forney PD on October 24, 2015.

In Dallas County, Cooks has previously been convicted of felony charges of burglary of a habitation and possession of a controlled substance. Cooks was also previously charged in Dallas County with assault family violence which was subsequently dismissed at the request of the complaining witness.

In Collin County, Cooks was convicted of DWI on August 28, 2015, and sentenced to 30 days in jail and given credit for 150 days already served. Also in Collin County, Cooks received 2 years probation on June 18, 2014, for the offense of possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 under 1 gram. That probation was revoked on October 31, 2014, at which time Cooks was sentenced to 180 days confinement in state jail.
