Duston Shane Chumley arrested by Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department

Duston Shane ChumleyDuston Shane Chumley was booked into the Kaufman County Jail on September 23, 2014, at 1:34 a.m. He was arrested by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department and charged with driving while intoxicated third or more. Bond is set at $20,000. Chumley is described as a white male, date of birth April 10, 1984, with blue eyes and brown hair, standing 5′ 10″ tall and weighing 180 pounds.

It’s actually his seventh dwi charge, but who’s counting?

Dallas County court records indicate Chumley was first charged by Mesquite PD with dwi in a case filed on April 19, 2002, for an incident occurring on March 31, 2002. That charge was dismissed on November 11, 2002, following the request of the prosecution who stated they were “unable to make a prima facie case.”

Chumley was next charged with dwi in Kaufman County in a case filed on March 29, 2005, for an incident occurring on December 26, 2004. Chumley entered a plea of guilty in that case on August 17, 2006, and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and a fine of $1000.

Back in Dallas County, Chumley was next charged with dwi by Dallas County Sheriff’s Department in a case filed on February 20, 2006, for an incident occurring on November 28, 2005. Chumley entered a plea of guilty in that case on November 19, 2006, and was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Over in Rockwall County, Chumley was charged with dwi with open container in a case filed on March 28, 2007, for an incident occurring on February 9, 2007. Chumley entered a plea of guilty in that case on April 5, 2007, and was sentenced to 90 days in jail probated for 18 months, 60 hours of community service, and a fine of $750. On August 21, 2007, a motion to revoke his probation was filed. Chumley’s probation in this case was revoked on August 30, 2007, and he was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Again back in Dallas County, and only a few days after getting out of jail on the previous dwi charge in Dallas County, Chumley was charged with dwi/2nd by Dallas County Sheriff’s Department for an incident which occurred on January 6, 2007. On May 4, 2007, Chumley entered a plea of guilty to that charge and was sentenced to 210 days in jail which was probated for 24 months, a fine of $800, and his driver’s license was suspended for 24 months. Four months later, on November 4, 2007, a motion to revoke Chumley’s probation was filed. On October 2, 2007, five months after he was placed on probation, that probation was revoked and reduced and Chumley was sentenced to 75 days in jail. Conveniently, Chumley had already served 24 days awaiting his probation violation hearing, plus one day on the original arrest, was awarded 50 days good time, and all costs were credited to time served, so he was essentially released immediately.

Returning again to Rockwall County, Chumley was charged with dwi/3rd or more in a case filed on June 18, 2008, from an incident which occurred on April 29, 2008. On July 10, 2008, Chumley entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced to 2 years in prison and a fine of $1000.

These are just the dwi cases related to this individual. In Rockwall County, Chumley also has previous charges of possession of marijuana (2 charges), driving while license invalid (2 charges), and driving while license suspended. In Dallas County, he has three assault family violence cases all of which were dismissed along with a theft case which was also dismissed. Public records indicate Chumley may currently live in Mesquite.

So what’s the betting line on the current dwi/3rd case?

UPDATE: On December 17, 2014, Chumley entered a plea of guilty to the dwi/3rd charge in Kaufman County and was sentenced to four years in prison along with a fine of $4000.

On August 31, 2019, Chumley was arrested by Forney Police Department following a report of a physical disturbance at Gateway Cedars Apartments. He was booked into Kaufman County Jail on September 1, 2019, and charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member. His bond is set at $3,000.
