Matthew Colby Johnson was booked into the Kaufman County Jail on August 31, 2015, at 7:52 p.m. He was arrested by the Terrell Police Department on charges of aggravated robbery, bond set at $175,000 and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, bond set at $75,000. Johnson is described as a black male, date of birth March 11, 1993, with brown eyes and black hair, standing 5’ 8” tall and weighing 155 pounds.
Johnson, from Mineola, is charged with robbing the “GAS” convenience store in Terrell on August 18. During the robbery, Johnson produced a firearm and demanded money. After the owner turned over some money, Johnson turned to leave the premises at which time the 75 year old owner produced a .38 caliber pistol and shot Johnson square in the buttocks.
Johnson then fled in a vehicle which was subsequently pursued by Terrell PD and other law enforcement agencies on eastbound Highway 80 at speeds in excess of 100 mph until Johnson finally lost control and flipped the vehicle. Johnson suffered life threatening injuries in the crash, far worse than a bullet in the ass.
He has since been released from the hospital and returned to the Kaufman County Jail to face charges.
